I think Hotmail uses pop. Maybe not. Just go to google and type in configure outlook express with hotmail. You'll get results.

No hot mail uses the http and after you tell the wizard that you want to use the http, then you can choose from a list that includes hot mail. Plus with new hot mail accounts, last time I saw, they will charge you to use outlook or outlook express. But you may want to check again, knowing MSN they changed their minds again.
People who have accounts from five or six years ago can still use outlook and OE for free.
If you need anymore help private message me and I'll try.

Yes, if you have an old Hotmail account, pop3 works fine, but if not, and it's a new one, you need to pay for it. It's a shame for those who don't have old accounts, but I guess they needed to get their money somehow... Checking email via a client is definitely nifty.

I answer because people come on here and if they just typed hotmail with outlook into google, they could get their answers. I apologize for answering.

old acounts? like the dot com ones?

dot com doesn't mean an account is old. dot co dot UK is just for people from England. Other people in most countries are likely to have dot com including America.

But anyway i heard somewhere that hotmail will start have outlook for free again in their new live mail accounts. I don't know how accessible these accounts are going to be. They are still in beta anyway.

I was wondering about that myself; I reactivated my hotmail acount I've had for several years, and configured it to work with outlook express, and it gave me error messages when trying to download my e-mail.
